Forgotten Gems-Achilleus-Allt vi begar
This Swedish band were part of the FWOSHM (First wave of Swedish Heavy metal) and this seven inch came out in 1982. This isn't just your straight ahead simplified metal that was so common in the early 80's. These guys definitely had some real progressive rock roots. Allt vi begar (All we ask) comes on with a basic riff before having some a lighter feel take over, but quickly the quirky and manic tempo changes kick in and the rid begins. Towards the end the song really hits a peak with the instruments really playing off one another. The second side is Obergs Praster (The priests of Oberg?). This track begins with a bouncy pace and lots of keys, but their knack for interjecting tempo changes comes into play again. This song is a bit lighter in nature but no less creative. I just wish the vocals had been more forceful. Still a single worth hearing.
